The Origin of the Gouy Phase Anomaly and Its Generalization to Astigmatic Wavefields

Abstract

An explanation of the Gouy phase anomaly near focus is presented and it is shown there is a generalization of this effect near each of the focal lines of an astigmatic pencil of rays.
