Ultrafast Photodetection in an All-Silicon Chip Enabled by Two-Photon Absorption

Abstract

We show that, by dramatically enhancing two-photon absorption in silicon, optical microresonators can act as efficient on-chip photodetectors for light at telecom wavelengths, which could pave the way for a new class of integrated photodetectors.
