Abstract

This paper presents a new optical displacement sensor using surface plasmons. The sensor measures the displacement by using the resonant incident angle. To show this, an analytical expression relating the displacement and the resonant incident angle are derived, based on which the sensitivity is studied for different setting parameters of the sensor.
