Slow Wave Resonance in Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Light incident on a periodic structure can be converted into a frozen mode with drastically enhanced amplitude and vanishing group velocity. In bounded photonic crystals, the frozen mode can give rise to a giant slow wave resonance.
