Abstract

A negative index metamaterial demonstrating n = -1.0 + 0.8i with both negative effective permittivity and permeability at 813 nm of linearly polarized light is fabricated. It also exhibits a negative refractive index (n = -0.7 + 1.3i) at 772 nm for orthogonal polarization.
