All Optical Switch based on Nonlinear Directional Coupler with Saturable Absorber

Abstract

All-optical switch based on nonlinear coupler with saturable absorber is proposed. FDTD simulation shows that this compact (15μm) device is capable of low-power (14μW), highspeed (100GHz) switching with 10-100× switching gain using realistic semiconductor materials.
