Abstract

We investigate a nonlinear dynamical behavior of the stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) in the absence of feedback near the threshold in a single mode optical fiber with a cw Nd:YAG laser. By examining the scaling power laws of the SBS signals, we verify that the irregular SBS signal has a nonlinear dynamical property with small amplitude of noise just above the threshold.
