Abstract

ESO has installed several adaptive optics systems on the VLT telescopes in Chile, and has a robust program to implement Laser Guide Stars. In this article it will be reviewed the status of the LGS Facility, a collaborative project together with Max Planck Institutes in Garching and in Heidelberg, recently installed on Paranal, and its first results. The activities toward multiconjugate LGS-AO, LGS-AO for the European ELT project and the development progress in fiber lasers will also be reviewed.
