Optical Forces in Microphotonic Waveguides

Abstract

We calculate forces caused by light traveling in microphotonic waveguides. Both attractive and repulsive forces result from overlapping waveguide modes. Slow light enhancement in photonic-crystal structures is shown to further magnify force values.
