Silicon and Silicon-Germanium Raman Laser

Abstract

We report the demonstration of lasing and amplification using the Raman effect in Si and SiGe waveguides. Electronic switching of the laser and tailoring of Raman spectrum via phonon engineering in SiGe alloys are also presented.
