Radiation Pressure and the Linear Momentum of Light

Abstract

We present a direct approach to solving the problems of radiation pressure, using a rigorous method that makes no assumptions beyond the Maxwell equations and the Lorentz law of force. We arrive at the results in several different ways, and show that all approaches lead consistently to the same answers.
