Interferometric contrast between resonant coherent anti-Stokes Raman sattering and nonresonant four-wave mixing

Abstract

Utilizing interferometry, we distinguish between resonant CARS and nonresonant four wave mixing, a pernicious problem of CARS microscopy. An optical parametric amplifier creates a coherent reference beam to demodulate the temporal CARS signal from acetone, sensitive to its concentration.
