Abstract

We derive new solutions for the spectral phase conjugation process by four-wave mixing, in the presence of signal amplification and cross-phase modulation. We show that the conversion efficiency can be significantly higher than previously considered and the parasitic cross-phase modulation effect can be effectively compensated by shaping the pump pulses.
