Free-space 3D all-optical cross-connect using digital MEMS

Abstract

We present a new free-space all-optical switch architecture based on digital MEMS instead of the commonly used analog MEMS. The design is based on digital MEMS and an optical White cell. We present the design and experimental evaluation of the system in terms of loss, number of ports and cross-talk.
