Abstract

We present theory and experiment for the physical optics analysis of the resolution of a GRIN (gradient-index) rod imaging system. Both a single rod and arrays are described and aberrations are included in the analysis. We compare the results of these analyses with experiments. An excellent understanding of the resolution is obtained.
