Abstract

The Archimedes Palimpsest is a 10th century manuscript containing the oldest known copies of seven treatises of Archimedes that was erased and overwritten with a prayer book in the 13th century, obscuring portions of original characters. We report on the application of variations of optical character recognition on this manuscript.
