Abstract

Combining the principles of phase contrast microscopy and phase shifting interferometry, we have developed a microscope capable of retrieving the phase of transparent samples with 0.1 nm pathlength noise value. Our results on live cells demonstrate the utility of the technique for the non-invasive study of biological structure and dynamics
