Abstract
The process of slowing a pulse of light using the EIT effect can be tailored to perform critical tasks in the field of quantum information processing. I will present the status of current efforts towards realizing a high-fidelity quantum memory unit, entanglement of a pair of macroscopic ensembles, and a few-photons optical switch using this approach.
