Complete destructive interference of partially coherent fields

Abstract

A ‘three-pinhole interferometer’ is used to study the interference of wavefields which are mutually partially coherent. It is shown that complete destructive interference of the fields is possible even if the sources are not fully coherent with respect to each other. Examples and an explanation of this effect are given.
