The use of orbital angular momentum of light beams for super-high density optical data storage

Abstract

We present a method to optically store multiple information in one location by having angular momentum imparted to the scanning beam by specially designed optical phase objects on an optical disc. We show how the azimuth, the rotation sense and the amount of rotation are detected in the focal region.
