The statistics of the mesoscopic field

Abstract

We report measurements of field statistics of diffusive and localized waves transmitted through ensembles of random samples. The probability distribution of the field is a mixture of Gaussian functions, while its correlation function is a product of correlators of the Gaussian field and the square root of the total transmission.
