Fast and slow light

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

I will review the basic mechanisms for dispersion-tailoring optical media via electromagnetically-induce transparency and related effects. Using these methods, it is possible to achieve group velocities that are much slower or faster than the speed of light in vacuum. Possible applications of such slow- and fast-light media will be discussed.Full-text article is not available.
