Abstract
Upconverting reporters are excited in the infrared and emit visible radiation. There are two classes of these materials: upconverting phosphors and upconverting chelates. Significant properties of upconverting reporters include no background from autofluorescence, no photobleaching, and no interference from conventional reporters.
