Abstract

Significant advancements in component and subsystem technologies have enabled new performance levels of adaptive optical systems on large ground-based telescopes. High power, facility-class sodium wavelength guide-star lasers, near infrared wave front sensor and tracking cameras, wave front correctors, and high speed processors are being integrated into the 3.5-m telescope at the Starfire Optical Range.
