Spectral compression of ultrafast laser pulses using transiently aligned molecules

Abstract

Ultrafast transients in the index of refraction produced by coherently rotating molecules can be used to compress the spectrum of ultrafast pulses. We apply spectral compression to tunable temporal duration transform-limited pulse generation.
