Abstract

We demonstrate quasi phase matching of third harmonic generation in anisotropic molecular gases by forming of a nonlinear grating by imposing a relative alignment of molecules in a gas with a spatially modulated alignment pulse. Conditions for optimal conversion efficiency and broad bandwidth phase matching will be discussed.
