Polarization splitting in air-silica microstructure fiber

Abstract

Strongly polarization-dependent coupling in photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is achieved by introducing high birefringence into the core regions of dual-core PCF. A polarization splitter with extinction ratio better than −20 dB is demonstrated.\
