An investigation of ridge waveguide as a near-field transducer for optical data storage

Abstract

The performance of the ridge waveguide as a near-field aperture in optical data storage systems is investigated. Finite element method and finite-difference time-domain is used to simulate various geometries involving ridge waveguides. The effect of various parameters is investigated.
