Propagation limitations on active atmospheric microwave occultation remote sensing

Abstract

It is customary to analyze and interpret active satellite atmospheric radio occultation data with ray or geometrical optical methods. Theoretical analysis and relevant laboratory and field experiments show the need to account for the effects of diffraction and turbulence.
