Abstract

We compare and analyze the filter properties of volume holographic gratings especially on the dispersion characteristics for uniform, non-uniform, reflection and transmission type gratings. By introducing non-uniformities, it is theoretically and experimentally shown that the grating can be used as a dispersion device in optical communication systems.
