Abstract
We measure the intensity and phase of continuum generated from an 8-mm-long microstructure fiber using cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating (XFROG). The results reveal a very short continuum and agree well with numerical simulations, revealing temporal pulse breakup and soliton fission dominating the initial spectral broadening process.
