Abstract

We report on the design, fabrication and testing of an organic-inorganic optical 90° hybrid [1] for phase diversity receivers operating at λ0=1.55 µm as a simple interferometer realized in a 4×4 multimode interference (MMI) coupler. The solgel method adopted for the device fabrication provides one step processing, eliminating the need for photoresist lithography and etching.
