Non-Bragg nature photonic bandgaps in a periodic waveguide

Abstract

Photonic bandgaps of a non-Bragg nature have been predicted in a periodically corrugated waveguide. The coupling of the transverse modes causes a series of the non-Bragg nature resonances, which give rise to the opening of the bandgaps. The gaps are located between the cutoff frequency and the Bragg resonance frequency of every mode of the waveguide.
