Experimentally controlled optical bistability and multistability in a three-level atomic system

Abstract

Optical bistability and multistability are experimentally demonstrated in an optical ring cavity containing three-level (Λ-type) rubidium atoms. They are sensitive to the induced atomic coherence and can be controlled by coupling field and atomic density.
