Abstract
Dispersed laser induced fluorescence from the rubidium dimer, formed at ~ 260 °C has been recorded at Doppler resolution on an FT spectrometer. The spectra extend observations of the A 1Σu+ state to sufficiently low vibrational levels in the A state to allow definitive vibrational assignments to be made for this heavily perturbed electronic state, and to give very plausible ones for the perturbing b 3Πu state. The two are strongly mixed by spin-orbit coupling.
