Abstract

The development of next generation asphere manufacturing technology is being finalized at the Center for Optics Manufacturing (COM). The Nanotech™ 150AG aspheric grinder produces optical surfaces with less than 1.0 wave p-v figure error, surface roughness of 100 Å rms, and less than 1 pm of sub-surface damage. This paper discusses COM’s recent manufacturing technology advances and describes the capabilities of the newly developed 2-axis contour grinding machine for glass and IR materials.
