Abstract

Nonlinear dynamics in VCSELs subject to optical injection (OI) has been usually studied when linearly polarized light is injected orthogonally to the linear polarization of the solitary VCSEL (orthogonal OI). Experimental stability maps have been reported for 1550nm VCSELs under orthogonal OI [1]. Just a few experimental works have reported polarization switching (PS) in VCSELs under parallel OI [2]. More recently simultaneous injection locking (IL) of the parallel polarization and excitation of the orthogonal one (IL+PS) have been reported for a 1550nm single-mode VCSEL under parallel OI [3]. Stability maps have been measured for 1550nm VCSELs under parallel OI [1]. However neither IL+PS state nor nonlinear dynamics of the orthogonal polarization mode have been observed [1].
