Abstract
Plasmonic nanoparticles can be used as scattering centers for random lasing. Here, we examine gold nanostars with a broadband scattering spectrum in combination with various gain media. This combination enables a huge spectral coverage of narrow linewidth emission even under a fixed excitation wavelength of 532 nm. Furthermore, we show that nanostars outperform nanoparticles of other shapes such as rods or spheres.
