Abstract

We introduce ‘Plasmene’—in analogy to graphene—as a freestanding, single-particle-thick, giant superlattice sheet of nanoparticles (‘meta-atoms’) from the ‘plasmonic periodic table’, which features both programmable plasmon propagation as well as gap-mode resonance characteristics and many unique optical properties.
