Spatio-temporal Dynamics of Raman Fibre Lasers

Abstract

Spatio-temporal representation of a laser output radiation can help reveal complex dynamics and transitions which are difficult to observe in the intensity time traces. The laminar–turbulent transition in a Raman fibre laser [1], ultra weak long-range interactions of solitons [2], and other works [3,4] employ this powerful technique to demonstrate the underlining physical processes. In this work we investigate the different spatio-temporal generation regimes of the Raman fibre laser with linear cavity. By simple variation of the pump power it is possible to drastically change the spatio-temporal output dynamics of the laser.
