Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics with Quantum Dots in Microcavities

Abstract

We demonstrate polarization degenerate solid-state cavity QED systems with charge control [1-3]. Our systems comprise InAs self-assembled quantum dots (Qdots) inside high-finesse oxide-apertured AlGaAs micropillars. Electronic contacts enable voltage tuning of the Qdot, via the quantum-confined Stark effect, while the micropillar geometry enables polarization-degenerate operation and the use of arbitrary polarizations. We investigate both neutral and singly-charged quantum dots.
