Efficient fibre-chip grating coupler for thick SOI rib waveguides

Abstract

In this work a fiber to chip grating coupler in micrometric SOI rib waveguides is experimentally demonstrated, for the first time, with −4dB coupling efficiency when an inverse taper is used as excitation stage.
