Abstract

Optimization of the joint 32/64-QAM subcarrier modulation is investigated using 3×515-Gbit/s multi-band OFDM transmission over 320-km SSMF with 50-GHz frequency grid. It is confirmed that the optimized joint 32/64-QAM with 20%-overhead FEC enables to increase OSNR sensitivity compared to 32-QAM with 7%-overhead FEC and 64-QAM with 20%-overhead FEC.
