Abstract

We report on the effect of the nonlinear multiple passage on optical imaging of an absorption inhomo-geneity of finite size deep inside a turbid medium based on a cumulant solution to radiative transfer. An analytical expression for the nonlinear correction factor is derived. Comparison to Monte Carlo simulations reveals an excellent agreement. The implication on optical imaging is discussed.
