Suspended Core Optical Fibres: New Tools for Sensing Chemicals, Biomolecules and Temperature

Abstract

This paper reviews the opportunities of using suspended core optical fibers with enclosed or exposed micron-scale cores for sensing chemicals, biomolecules and temperature. The applications areas of sensing platforms based on these fibers are described.
