Laser-Ultrasonic Remote Sensing of Oil-on-Water Slick Thickness

Abstract

We report the successful remote measurement of the thickness of an oil slick on water using a laser-ultrasonic airborne system. This achievement, sponsored by Environment Canada, should lead to better management of oil spills.
