Abstract

Highly unusual frequency response is predicted for the extremely asymmetrical scattering of bulk and guided electromagnetic waves in oblique periodic gratings. A very strong and sharp additional resonance is shown to exist for frequencies less than the Bragg frequency. A new approach to the theoretical analysis is introduced.
