Efficient numerical optimization based on rigorous diffraction models

Abstract

An efficient algorithm is presented which allows one to optimize diffractive optical elements with rigorous diffraction models. The algorithm is based on the concept of the distorted wave Born approximation known from inverse scattering theory.
