Applications of diffractive optics with LED sources

Abstract

The advantages and limitations of using diffractive optical elements with incoherent LED sources are discussed. Two example applications are presented in which LEDs and diffractive optics successfully interact: an efficient illumination system, and a white light color-mixing system.
