Abstract

This tutorial proposes an overview of methods to reduce the speckle in images obtained from digital holographic recording and processing. We discuss on the origin of the speckle noise and present the two main categories for process such unwanted noise. First, we present optical methods that are based on engineering the recording process through modifications in the experimental set-up, and last we present image processing methods that are based on generating a set of sub-holograms to produce a series of uncorrelated images. Experimental results illustrate the discussions.
